“Me (to Mrs T): If you had the hypothetical choice between another 50 years married to me or a £1M credit card that you never had to pay back, which would you choose?
Mrs T: That’s a really hard choice
Me: Is it?
Mrs T: Yes. Mastercard or Visa?”
Good morning lovely Dashers. It looks like you had another great weekend of exceptional running and top performances. I’ve looked on enviously from the sidelines as the posts kept coming from you with tales of running brilliance. For my part, I had to miss out on plodding this weekend as it was a packed schedule of York Races on Saturday and NFL in London on Sunday so all good fun but it’s amazing how lethargic you feel even after only missing a few days. Hopefully today I can get out and enjoy the surprisingly good weather.
Of course, you all kept your focus and much kudos to the magnificent teams who represented Dashers at the Red Rose X-Country at Witton. The pictures looked great and you all looked remarkably strong on what must have been a really tough track. Well done to you all. And of course not to be outshone were Philip Seddon who posted a great time at the West Coast Half Marathon and Helen Walker who smashed her first Half Marathon in Manchester. Brilliant running by you both! If I’ve missed any other achievements, please accept my apologies but congratulations nonetheless.
Of course with so many Dashers occupied by the X-Country in particular, parkrun attendance this week was a little thinner but we still had 12 intrepid Dashers gracing 8 different events; 4 for the first time. And, as ever, you did yourselves proud with no less than 3 Top-10 finishes by Martin Oldfield and Diane Dudgeon (9th and 5th respectively at Preston) and Thomas Perricone who was an excellent 6th at Amsterdamse Bol in the Netherlands (we seem to have at least one ‘continental’ Dasher every week which is great)
It was an excellent week for Diane Dudgeon because not only was there that super finish at Preston but it was also in a new PB! This enabled Diane to continue to close the gap on the top 2 in the Ladies Championship table, namely Linda Coffey and Jacqueline Shaw.
In the Men’s Championship, the top 4 of Brian Shaw, Simon Smith, Jez Turner and Andy Smith all took a parkrun break this week and so there was (stating the obvious) no change at the top. It was great to see 2 new entries into the league table this week with Thomas Perricone and David Seddon both posting excellent marks to bring the total up to a very healthy 37. I’m sure they will both be climbing the table over the coming weeks.
So, a small but beautifully formed group of parkrunners this week bot no less achievements nonetheless. Ford is the only relatively local parkrun cancelled next week to my knowledge so we should all have a free run at whichever event takes your fancy – and wherever it is, happy parkrunning!
